The 2025 Ford Explorer Unveiled

The 2025 Ford Explorer Unveiled

The 2025 Ford Explorer receives a number of design and technology updates that help it remain one of the most desirable models in its segment. Along with new features, a more modern design and a more comfortable cabin, the Explorer keeps its already competent powertrains and driving characteristics.

For over thirty years, the Ford Explorer has been a favourite among families, earning its place as America's all-time best-selling SUV. The new 2025 Explorer lineup, featuring the well-equipped Active, stylish ST-Line, high-performance ST, and top-of-the-line Platinum models, builds on this legacy. The focus is on a more refined cabin, introducing sophisticated new colours, textures, and materials, along with the new Ford Digital Experience infotainment system, which the Explorer will be the first model to benefit from.

Enhanced driver assists

One of the most exciting additions to the 2025 Ford Explorer is the availability of Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving for ST-Line, ST, and Platinum models. This feature enhances the convenience and safety of long road trips, making Explorer the first choice for those seeking a blend of performance and cutting-edge technology. This system, available through a subscription, is capable of steering, accelerating, and braking the vehicle, as well as performing automated lane changes when the driver uses the turn signal indicator.

A new interior

The redesigned interior of the 2025 Ford Explorer improves on the comfort and quality of its predecessor. With softer touchpoints, premium materials, and a variety of color schemes, the cabin reflects attention to detail. The dashboard has been pushed forward to create a more open and spacious feel, while an integrated tray below the touchscreen houses a wireless phone charging pad. The Explorer lineup also offers a range of customization options, including ambient lighting choices, premium packages like Platinum Lux Leather and ST-Line Street, and a selection of cloth, ActiveX, and leather upholstery.

A new exterior

The 2025 Ford Explorer also receives a number of design tweaks to the exterior, with a new grille being the most noticeable single item. Along with this grille, the new Explorer showcases new LED headlamps, a new front bumper, new alloy wheel designs, an available black roof on ST and ST-Line models, and new taillamps that are part of the revised tailgate.

More advanced connectivity

The brand-new Ford Digital Experience infotainment system brings a new level of connectivity, allowing access to favourite apps and services through Google and Amazon, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 13.2-inch touchscreen, combined with the 12.3-inch digital cluster, provides easy control and integration with Google Maps for navigation. The Ford Digital Experience also introduces hands-free entertainment options, from streaming music and audiobooks to watching videos and playing games when the vehicle is stopped. The platform is designed for future updates, ensuring that Explorer owners stay connected and enjoy the latest features over time.

The ST version

For thrill-seekers, the Explorer ST, engineered by Ford Performance, continues as the most powerful and fun-to-drive Explorer ever. With a specially tuned 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine producing 400 horsepower, it guarantees an exhilarating driving experience. Explorer ST customers even have the opportunity to attend the Ford Performance Racing School's ST Driving Experience, either in Park City, Utah, or in Asheville, North Carolina.

Fewer, better-equipped models

The 2025 Explorer lineup is streamlined, featuring Platinum, ST, ST-Line, and Active models with more accessible configurations. The standard engine in all of these models, except the ST, remains the robust 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder, and the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 now generates as much power in the Platinum trim level as it does in the ST. The new 2025 Ford Explorer is expected to reach Canadian buyers starting in the second quarter of 2024, with a base MSRP of $50,535.
