Ford Co-Pilot 360: What is it for?

If you've ever browsed our pages looking for a Ford product, you've probably already seen references to the Co-Pilot 360 system. Have you wondered what it is, in detail?

If so, the following will serve as a refresher. If not, you're about to discover the secret of a technology that always offers you more, as it always does at Ford.

The Co-Pilot 360 suite is a set of technology features developed to help you relax and feel safer while driving a Ford model. These features are innovative and help you drive with confidence, no matter where you are. The availability of driver assistance features varies by model, but overall, the offering is comprehensive across the board.

Here are the main features of the system.

Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)

This feature alerts you when a vehicle is coming into your blind spot. The accompanying Rear Cross Traffic Alert can detect activity in your blind spot while maneuvering, such as backing out of your driveway or parking lot.

Lane Keeping System

This system, as the name implies, keeps your vehicle in its lane by alerting you if you unintentionally veer off course. This can be very useful if you are distracted or tired. In this case, a coffee cup icon appears on the dashboard to let you know it's time to take a break.

Pre-Collision Assist

Pre-Collision Assist with Emergency Braking detects the presence of a vehicle or pedestrian ahead of you on the road. If you don't take action to avoid the impact, the system automatically brakes.

Sometimes the warning is enough to make you react in time to avoid an impact.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive cruise control works like any other system of its kind, but it has some smart features.

For example, once you activate the speed limit sign recognition and set your speed, your vehicle automatically adjusts its pace. The system can also stop your vehicle if the traffic in front of you has slowed or stopped. It resumes the set speed when traffic clears. The lane centering system locates lines on the road and helps you stay in the center of them.

Reverse Brake Assist

This feature makes backing up much easier. The system detects moving and stationary objects behind and warns you of potential hazards such as distracted pedestrians, poles, obstacles, etc. It can also brake if you don't have the time to do so. It can also brake if you don't react in time.

Plus, Active Pak Assist 2.0 can help you parallel park or reverse into a perpendicular space. Impressive.

Automatic low beams

On a dark road at night, it can be tiring to keep turning the low beams on and off. And you always forget to do it at some point when you pass another vehicle. With the automatic function, the low beams are turned on when meeting other vehicles coming in the opposite direction and turned off once they have passed so as not to blind the other drivers.

This way, you can concentrate on one thing: driving.

As you can see, all the functions described have one objective; to make your life easier and safer behind the wheel.

What more could you ask for?
