A look at the new 2024 Ford Ranger and Ranger Raptor

The Ford Ranger will enter a new generation for the 2024 model year which brings more technology, more capability, and a new Raptor version. Here’s a look at it.

Modernized powertrains

The 2024 Ford Ranger is available with two very modern powertrains that include a reworked 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a new 2.7L EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6. The standard engine delivers 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque via a 10-speed automatic transmission and a driver-selectable electronic 4x4 transfer case. With the optional V6 engine, drivers benefit from 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Combined with revisions to the frame and suspensions, this gives the new Ranger the ability to tow up to 7,500 pounds and haul 1,805 pounds. Increased ground clearance and improved approach and departure angles also contribute to making the 2024 Ranger more competent than ever in off-road driving.

More technology inside

The new 2024 Ford Ranger comes with a host of advanced technologies that make it a better choice for those who need their truck to meet their every need. For example, the new Ranger comes with a standard 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a standard 10.1-inch touchscreen with the Sync 4 infotainment system, and a 4G LTE modem. Drivers who want more can also order a full-screen 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, a best-in-class 12-inch touchscreen, and a wireless phone charger. This infotainment system also includes controls for the new drive modes and off-road information while physical knobs are still present for the radio and climate control system. With over-the-air updates, this system will help the Ranger remain modern and relevant for many years by adding new features to existing trucks.

An impressive Raptor version

After the F-150 and the Bronco, it is the Ranger’s turn to receive a Raptor version. Like the other Raptor models, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor is the most extreme version of the mid-size pickup in terms of performance and off-road abilities. In addition to a number of cosmetic differences, the Ranger Raptor stands out from other models in the lineup due to its twin-turbocharged 3,0L EcoBoost V6 that delivers 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, its locking front and rear differentials, its long-travel suspension with exclusive Fox Live Valve Shocks, and all-terrain tires.
