2021 Ford F-150 vs. 2021 Ram 1500: Technology at Your Service

2021 Ford F-150 vs. 2021 Ram 1500: Technology at Your Service

The new Ford F-150 is better than ever, with all new and more powerful drivetrains, segment-leading capabilities and a long list of standard and available technologies that include category-exclusive elements, Ford takes its popular full-size pick-up truck to new levels.

Here, we compare the 2021 Ford F-150 with the 2021 Ram 1500.

The 2021 Ford F-150 offers an innovative cabin

The F-150 includes many innovative technologies that surpass the Ram 1500. It offers elements like the new optional Interior Work Surface with stowable shifter, as well as the Class-exclusive Max Recline Seats available that fold flat to nearly 180 degrees and the Tailgate Work Surface.

The F-150 is more connected than ever with standard over-the-air updates and the Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 technology that keeps you and your passengers safe.

The 2021 Ford F-150 has a powertrain that meets your needs

While existing engines are getting better every year, and capabilities are following suit Ford is adding new possibilities to the F-150 engine lineup of 2021.

The 3.3-litre V6 outputs 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, and the powerful 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 engine develops 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of turbocharged performance and is able to tow more than 10,000 lb.

The 400 hp 5.0-litre V8 gets the job done with a max towing capacity of 13,000 lb. Let’s not forget the 3.0-litre Power Stroke diesel V6 with 440 lb-ft of torque and great fuel economy.

The 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 with 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque takes the win with a segment-leading 14,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Ford gives the F-150 a whole new level of hybrid technology for 2021 with the PowerBoost V6. This hybrid powertrain is rated at 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque, but it can also supply your job site with power thanks to its standard Pro Power Onboard system and exportable power capabilities of 2.4 kilowatts standard and an available 7.2 kilowatts.

The Ram 1500 offers doesn’t compete with its engine lineup, with less capable V8 powertrains and an expensive diesel option. The eTorque hybrid tech doesn’t compete with the F-150’s hybrid engine in terms of power and exportability. Also, the maximum towing capacity rating on the Ram 1500 is limited to 12,750 pounds.
